Credible implementation

چکیده
The theory of implementation abounds with mechanisms with intricate systems of rewards and punishments off-the-equilibrium path. Generally, it is not in the designer’s best interest to go through with the reward/punishment in the “subgame” arising from some disequilibrium play. This would make the mechanism’s outcome function non-credible. We define a notion of credible implementation and, in the domain of exchange economies, we show that (a) the non-dictatorial Pareto correspondence can be credibly implemented (b) there is no credibly implementable Pareto-efficient and individually rational social choice rule (SCR) and (c) there is no credibly implementable Pareto-efficient and envy-free SCR. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for credible implementability of SCR. The main implication is that it is sub-optimal for the designer to be endowed with “too much” information about the economy. Finally, we show that the negative results persist under weaker credibility requirements. © 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. JEL classification: C70; D70

Credible Intervals for Nanoparticle Characteristics
Solving the inverse problem of nanoparticle characterization has the potential to advance science and benefit society. While considerable progress has been made within a framework based on the scattering of surface plasmon-polaritons, an aspect not heretofore considered is the quantification of uncertainty in the estimation of a nanoparticle characteristic. Therefore, the present article offers...

متن کاملThe non-credible score of the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test: is it better at predicting non-credible neuropsychological test performance than the RAVLT recognition score?
The ability of both the non-credible score of the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT NC) and the recognition score of the RAVLT (RAVLT Recog) to predict credible versus non-credible neuropsychological test performance was examined. Credible versus non-credible group membership was determined according to diagnostic criteria with consideration of performance on two stand-alone performance ...
متن کاملWeighted Method Signatures Fingerprints
A software fingerprint is a set of distinctive characteristics used to identify and compare programs. This paper presents a fingerprint technique based on the characteristics of method signatures. The proposed technique considers uncommon method signatures as being more effective than common ones to compare programs. The implementation of this technique is limited to Java programs, but it could...
